Believe!

Over this past month since LOVE has launched I have been asked the question

what bit of advice would you offer to aspiring writers?

well, being how I still consider myself in that category (we are always aspiring, aren't we?) I'd say it is this one word:

believe

believe that you can actually write the book (or whatever it is your goal may be)

believe your voice is important and unique

believe you can listen to the critique and improve (and you must)

believe you can endure (nine years folks! nine years!)

believe people want to read your story

believe it matters

because it does matter. what you have to share with the world may not be for everyone, but it is important and it is worth working at.

yes, believe.

do you?

I love the word "believe." It's so necessary and important to believe in yourself and believe in others. Lovely post, Tess.

Wonderful advice. And possibly, "This is a marathon, not a sprint." :)

Great post! I think believing in yourself is one of the hardest skills to acquire....or at least it is for me.

Thank you for this, Tess. I needed it today. My book just went on submission Tuesday and I'm filled with doubts! I need to believe that I can eventually make it. Maybe not with this one, but that if I keep working hard, it will happen.

Yes, we have to keep positive and be our own best cheerleader! It's the only thing that will get us through :o
