Teaser Tuesday

*
Today I'm going to participate in Teaser Tuesday. This is a passage where my MC meets an old, southern gentleman named Moody. I can't figure out how to make the indentations stay on this darn blog! So, I've spaced it out instead. If anyone knows how to make indentations stay and not revert to left alignment (on blogs) please offer help!!

The old man kept to his work. He was carving a tiny box with intricate roses and diamonds that cascaded down the side. “Does that daddy of yours know where his daughter is?” he said, not looking up.

“Well enough. He knows I’m looking for Jimmy and he knows I can mind my way around a new town. So, will you come to the tent tonight Mr….”

“Moody.”

Ollie stretched out her hand. “Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Moody.”

“No mister. Just Moody.” He laid down his whittling knife, wrapped his warm, tissue paper hand around Ollie’s and gave a gentle squeeze. She could feel the warmth of his friendship pouring down from his heart, through his arm and right out of his fingertips. It was pure liquid. It was divine.

I'd love to read some of your work. Is anyone else participating in Teaser Tuesday?

"his warm, tissue paper hand"

I love that!

I haven't done a teaser from my WIP, but I did post a flash fiction piece (and asked for feedback/critiques) yesterday. Come by if you can!

Tess - can't help with the Blogger problems. I had my own issues when posting this morning. Sometimes, Blogger doesn't want to space between my paragraphs. It's very, very irritating.

So is Teaser Tuesday a new writing blogsphere requirement that nobody told me about? Well, dang! Who knew I was supposed to post teaser passages from my writing on Tuesday. I know now, so watch out . . .

Nice tease, btw!

Very nice! I love the voice. Reminds me a bit of Scout.

I like that! I want to read more. I never thought about doing Teaser Tuesday until now. That would be fun. I might consider that in the future. Thanks!

Those few lines really set the tone of the novel. Great job!

Love the voice, Tess! It's a quiet scene but I can truly picture it. And I like the last 3 sentences . . . very lyrical. I'd definitely read on!

Good job!

loved the "tissue paper" bit. Silly to say but those are my favorite hands to hold.

Thanks guys! It's not a perfect passage - always open to revision :) It was hard to find one short enough to put in a post but long enough to still give a scene.

I've seen ElanaJ's, Scott's and Janna's teaser work. I know Crystal has posted hers in the past. Anyone else?

Lexicon Luvr - not silly. What a tender sentiment, and one that I agree with.

Oh - and I now see Crystal has posted Teaser Tues. as well. Good passage, girl.
