If You Really Knew Me...

I'm stealing this idea from my senior-in-high-school daughter's blog.  Her revelations were remarkable.  Mine are far less so.  Still, If you really knew me....

If you really knew me, you'd know that I am terribly superstitious, but wish I was not.

If you really knew me,  you'd know that my most creative moments come right after a stolen, mid-afternoon, contraband nap.

If you really knew me, you'd know that I eat way too much sugar and waste way too much time and have that awful restless leg syndrome, "RLS" they call it, which has robbed me of my favorite drink - diet coke (no caffeine allowed).

That I love being a mom.

That I'm bugged by people who are only open minded about things they find important.

If you really knew me, you'd know that I may seem unaffected, but have a deep river of emotions pulsing right below the surface.

If you really knew me, you'd know that I try.
I really do.
And that I understand how often I fall short.

If you really knew me, you'd know I am still figuring most things out.
And I'm okay with that.

Question: If you write your own "If you really knew me" post...will you please let me know?  I'd love to learn more about you...

I have RLS too.

Thanks for reading, Faith.

Janice - I have some great fixes if you are interested... simple things that have helped me.

Great post, Tess.... I'm glad I know you. :-)

I have RLS. A daily iron supplement seems to help abate my symptoms. I've heard that once you go on actual medicine for it, if you stop it comes back a billion times worse than before. That right there is enough for me to go the homeopathic route.

'That I'm bugged by people who are only open minded about things they find important.' This brought a laugh of recognition from me.

Thanks for sharing yourself.

Cool post. There are a lot of universal points on your list.

I might borrow this idea, and will link back to you, for sure. Great idea. Today, I'm feeling a little anxious, yet, ready to dare to do more.

Sharon: a completely reciprocal feeling.

Stephanie: really? I'll try adding iron and see if it helps. I've done other things, too...all holistic. I agree with you - no meds if you can deal with it on your own. Plus, those sleepless nights can be used for writing :)

Martin: It's an interesting thought. I'd love to have a discussion on that topic w/ someone who wouldn't get all in a knot. Those people are hard to find.

Charlie - Hi! So much of life is universal...man, we're getting philosophical here.

Corey: do it!

Mary: do it too! I'm feeling a bit like you today as well. New year and all that jazz.

RLS is awful but I've had far fewer (like one in a blue moon) sleepless nights to it since adding in the iron supplement.

Stephanie: excellent to know - I'll pick some up today - thanks!

LOVED this post, Tess! Truly, a great idea. I've put up on my own here: http://theinnocentflower.blogspot.com/2012/01/if-you-really-knew-me_18.html

It was good to get to know you better! Now I say we get together for lunch. :)

Thanks so much for sharing Tess. We can devote so much of our time and energy ensuring people never really know us. How sad that is. It's really nice to feel like you know someone - even if you've never met them - I look forward to gettting to know you better by following your blog.

Glam: I loved yours and tried to comment but .. no comment feature? and yes! lunch sounds fun. I'm over the tooth drama :)

Accidental writer: hello! love the name...aren't we all on some level? and I appreciate the point you make here. We do often close ourselves off - and it is sad. good reminder not to in what you say.

Tess, I posted a little while ago about why I've disabled comments. It's probably not what you think. Or maybe it is. :)

Awesome! I love the term "contraband nap." I think I'm going to have one of those today.

great to get to know you better!

I really relate to 3, 4, and 6, although I don't have RLS. As for that nap, with all the benefit you got, it was totally justified. :)

Glam: nope- clueless. I'll have to find that post.

Elana: Hope you got it!

Terry: :)

Marcia: thanks for saying so .. it's interesting to see similarities, eh?
