Inspired

Art inspires art. I was reminded of this yesterday.

My sweetie and I attended the U2 360 concert and it was amazing! Yes, the music is great. Yes, the set and atmosphere were super charged. But what made it inspiring?

The humanity.

U2 uses their celebrity for good. Agree or disagree with their politics, you can't deny that they use every tool in their box to share their message.

We raised our hands for the refugees in Burma and heard clips from Gandhi and shouted in celebration for the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International.

It was moving.

And...it came on the heels of finishing this really spectacular debut novel...

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. I can't tell you what an important read this is. It's poignant and heart breaking and inspiring...

it, too, is full of humanity.

Tell me,
what inspires you?

U2 is one of my favorites not only because of their music but what they do with their fame. How cool you went to their concert! I haven't been since the ELevation tour.

This book is on my TBR. Maybe I should move it up. :o)

Thanks for sharing, Tess!

I'll bet it was a fantastic concert! I'm glad you got to go. Music inspires me very much, as do good books, nature, family, etc...

Okay, I just placed a request for this at my library. I'm never disappointed by the books you recommend. :)

Amy
P.S. And I'm also a U2 fan, even though I've never been to a concert (yet). "Am I buggin' you? I don't mean to bug ya."

Jackee: yes! move it to the top - but make sure you're in the mood to think. This is a thinking and learning book.

Angie: oh yes, nature -- especially spring outside my window. I agree.

Glam: do!!

Amy: Ha! I said that very line on the way to the concert - it's a favorite.

Well, first - lucky you for getting to see U2!!

And second - that book is not on my TBR list. At least it wasn't until now. Thanks for the recommend!

For me? My children inspire me. They make me feel like I can do anything ~ and for them, I WANT to.
