I Heart Indies -- Give Away!

How much do we love our indie book stores? SO MUCH!

In fact, a bunch of blogs are celebrating indies today with cool give aways...books bought at our local indie stores!
My amazingly supportive indie is THE KINGS ENGLISH..

why do I love them?
They go to great lengths to support local authors. Have an event in Timbuktu? No sweat - they'll be there. Need just the perfect gift for that picky reader? Easy - their recommendation is spot on perfect.

So - in honor of them and their amazingness, I am giving away that fabulous book I reviewed in my last post (and that I just happen to buy at The Kinks English) -- Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys.

This is not a light read but it is beautifully written, compelling and important. When you finish the book, you will have learned so much. You will feel heartbroken and hopeful all at the same time. You will want to pass the book on to a dear friend (and I hope you do!)

How to enter? Just leave a comment telling me which indie you like or which one you've been dying to visit.

And if you want more fun, link over to Lisa and Laura's blog for more links and enter to win there as well. I'll draw a winner at random tomorrow evening and post the result for this specific book here.

Lots of love being shared!!

I must admit, I've never been to the King's English, but we have bought books from them when they've been out on location of a big book event. So, I would have to vote for King's English!

Unfortunately, my favorite indie just closed this month--I was pretty crushed. :(
But I also love R. J. Julia Booksellers in Madison, CT. They have lots of author events, so you'll have to try to stop there if you ever do a tour in CT!

I love Indies too! Despite living in a huge metropolitan, we have hardly a one that isn't a museum store or hospital store. So sad!!!

In Oregon, where I go for school, though, there is a DARLING one I just loved called Beach Books. It's in Seaside, and is barely big enough for ten people, but there's a comfy couch and a cat that wanders around and occasionally live acoustic guitar and wine. It's a tiny slice of heaven!

Hi, Tess. The King's English sounds like the perfect Indie - and that book sounds like a great read.

TKE is one of my favorite Indie stores, EVER. They have a great staff, an excellent newsletter, and there events are always fun!

I am absolutely in love with a store here called Downtown Books. It has three floors and it's like one huge labyrinth. Two cats reside there, sleeping on the bookshelves and following me around, making it feel even more like home. The sad thing is that it's supposed to be closing soon. I'm just hoping that I'll get to show my boyfriend (he'll be visiting from Colombia soon) before it's gone forever. It's really a great place. I hope to visit more like it in the future.
