Cover Reveal!

Things I love about this cover:

Ollie's expresson.
......the lighting of the clouds and path....the gorgeous turquoise blue sky......the trailing papers (which are invite fliers for her daddy's revival).....how the front flier says "come one come all" big enough for the reader to see on the book (which I think is a cool invitation to open the book)...

I think the good people at Farrar Straus Giroux nailed the middle grade market for this historical piece.

Matt Mahurin is the artist....super talented with a huge range (check out his website - it is amazing stuff!)

What do you think?

Oh. My. Gosh! Tess, the cover is SO LOVELY! Yes, I love the attention to detail that was given for the flyers and just overall it was beautifully created. The cover, I feel, has the look of a book that will definitely stand the test of time. Congratulations, my friend! I so look forward to reading your novel! :)

Crystal: I wonder what your cover will look like someday? It'll happen, you know. I remember being in Miss Snarks First Victim contest with you and reading your entry and thinking "this is my real competition". true.

I think you're right - that cover looks perfect for your book! I love that even though it's a historical, the cover looks so timeless and classic. There's nothing really there that "dates" the book and I agree with you: Ollie's expression definitely has me wondering what's up already! Beautiful! So happy for you!

Very nice. I love the scruffy trees by the silver teardrop trailer and the clouds are completely yummy and the flowers in the foreground and the colors. I love the little heart in the o of love. I love how it's antiqued looking. I wish there were a frog hiding in the grass. Heehee. Of course, that might look kind of weird, eh? I still like the idea we had of a picture of little kid feet hanging off the back of a truck. *smile*

Tess said...

Ashley: thanks...it is unique, isn't it?

Windy: one look and you know it is middle grade historical and I kind of like that...thanks@

Angie: thanks pretty hat lady :)

Lotusgirl: I KNOW! I still like our idea of the feet dangling from the chevy truck bed best of all as well...and I secretly wish they had some hint of mystery or Jimmy on the cover. All that being said, I guess you can't put everything on there and I think the art of this piece is truly lovely. Thanks for your kind words ... hope your holiday is going well.

Tess. I LOVE this. It's so stunning and classic, and I think it is perfect for MG readers. In fact, I can think of a few right now. And the airstream trailer in the background. . . so many things make me want to know more! (I did tell you I'm from AR, right?)

Congrats!
