Free Stuff Friday -- a two-fer

This is a week of twos for me so today I'm hosting a two fer Free Stuff Friday.

Let's make it easy...

just leave a comment telling me two things about yourself

any two things
... what you ate for dinner last night or a summer vacation plan or your pets name or an unusual habit (er...just remember the PG rating on this blog pretty please)

Sunday night I'll draw two random names.

What am I giving away?

Two Twenty dollar gift certificates to Amazon.Com (one per winner)
That should get you a book of your choosing, plus shipping.

Wa-hoo!

How fun! An unusual habit? I golf. I guess that's not really unusual. But I enjoy it. I like to cook, too. Almost went to culinary school but in the end I just couldn't justify the cost. I can follow a recipe for a lot less than that.

Is that two things? I love London. That's another.

This'll be fun to see the other comments.

Great idea! Let's see...

I make the best chicken not pot pie in the whole world. LOL

I like cottage cheese on top of a toasted buttery English muffin.

Oh fun! Umm okay two facts, I'm trying to get an editorial internship in NYC this summer, which is exciting.

And...I own four ties and I've been waiting on the chance to wear my new ones, because I'm weird like that and don't care that I'm a girl and I'm not supposed to wear ties. They're awesome.

Kristi- That sounds tasty! :)

Very fun, Tess! Two things about me are:

#1 - My family is leaving for a Colorado ski trip one week from tomorrow.

#2 - I played piano, violin, and flute as a child, and now I can barely read a note.

#1 I want to fire my dentist. Not because he's a bad dentist but because his receptionist is rotten mean.

#2 I haven't gone to bed before 3 AM most of this entire week long. =O

#1 I must finish an assignment tonight

# I must start my next unit in my studies tonight!!!!

[I'm ok with not being in the give-a-way - living in Aus]

Pets: 2 dogs, 10 chickens, 1 rabbit, 1 gecko
(The dogs are huskies named Kodiak and Kenai.)
Unusual Habit: I hate feet. I hate to be touched by them or for people to touch them. *Gross!*

So fun!!
1) my toenails are painted saphire blue right now
and
2) I've been having these peanut/caramel Atkins bars every day for breakfast this week.

Oh, Batman...I'm drooling over this giveaway!

Dinner last night was supposed to be a left-over potato and hamburger concoction with cheese melted over it, but it failed so we ate pizza. ;)

I think I read unusual pet name so I tell you our dog's name growing up was China Baby.

Scott said...

Well, I'd tell you my first name . . . but that's not gonna happen!!!

#1 - even though my sisters refuse to admit it, I am the favorite child. Ha!

#2 - I made spaghetti and meatballs last night. The sauce was made from scratch! Yum!

#3 - well, since #1 might be questioned by delusional people known as Barb and Patti (my sisters) - I just read Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief! There, I admit it. I even liked the book and am reading the second in the series.

Congrats on the 200+ Followers! Woo-hoo!

Thanks for doing this!

Two fun things:
I've stayed in the room Hemingway rented while writing THE SUN ALSO RISES.

I've eaten chicken feet (a regular dinner item in China).

Two things about myself?

1. I hid out in my room last night (hiding from the kids of course) and snuck a chocolate cupcake. It was so good.

2. I'm up early watching the snow fall outside, its kind of pretty. (Although deep down I'm excited for spring!)

You are so cool with the giveaways!

Okay, two things:

1. I lived in Spain the summer between my sophomore and junior year of college. One of the best experiences of my life.

2. Twenty years later I still have a hard time writing about it because it was so perfect I can't fictionalize it at all!

Stephanie: London? have you ever been? That's one of my dream vacations as well.

Kristi: wow - I've never heard of cottage cheese on top of an english muffin .. but I like both so why not? hmm...

AmandaJ: really? how super cool! (both the internship and the ties)

Susan: ski trip - hooray! and, I played violin as a child, too. wish I hadn't quit.

LT: why!? 3am? you must be sooo tired. will you get a nap this weekend? and, too bad for that dentist. I wonder if he knows she's a snot? who can be mean to you? I've met you and you're pretty easy to like? shall I go talk to her? punch her? okay..I'll stop now.

Michelle: good luck with your assmts. and no worries being an Aussie -- it's an e mail gift cert. I chose it for that very reason..no postage issues.

Karin: oh, me too. how many times homemade mac and cheese had doubled for prozac in my house ;)

Jackee: 10 chickens and a gecko? now that rocks!

Jennifer: I can see you in your blue toenails, Atkins bar at hand at your computer. perfect writerly image.

Wendy: ha! "Oh Batman" that made me giggle. And, thank heavens for pizza!

Scott: we're gobbling up the Percy Jackson series over here. It's a good one. And, I'M the favorite child! er..wait...I guess you were probably talking about within your family. sorry, it's a knee jerk response ;)

Caroline: I'd really like to know what chicken feet tasted like....I know, I know :"it tastes like chicken", right?

Tess said...

Carolyn V: so nice to meet a fellow bedroom-closet-cupcake-eater. Welcome to the club ;)

Solvang Sherrie: but, you must! what an amazing experience! You have read Bloomabilities, right? Something like that only with your own experience would make a fantastic MG novel!

I'm an adventurous eater. Thai, Indian, Moroccan, whatever. My husband has a very limited palette of appreciation, so I love eating out with friends.

I'm a singer with a 3 octave range. I haven't shattered glass, but I wonder sometimes if I really could, if I tried.

You're such a sweetie! Love your generosity. *hugs*

I'm taking a copyediting/proofreading course so I have credentials to back up my credentials when I start my editing business.

I was told yesterday that my twins would be in full time Kindergarten next year (all day, every day). Visions of five full writing days a week danced in my head. *sigh* When I dropped the girls off at pre-school this morning, I asked the teacher. Unfortunately, this was just a rumor. Rats! LOL

Have a great weekend!

Janice: a hamburger can be sooo good when done right. mmm..I'm hungry.

For dinner last night we had brats and noodles that nobody liked. Leftovers, you know.

I'm trying to get a trip to Arizona together for our next little vacation.

What did you have for dinner?

Tess said...

Angie: yes, perfect!

1. I was once selected from an audience to ride on a comedians shoulders while he rode a unicycle. I think he chose me because I was really skinny back then. He would not choose me today.

2. I scored a goal at my soccer game last night, but we lost 5-4.

I have been to London. I was fortunate enough to be able to study abroad there for two months about 3 1/2 years ago. I have longed to return ever since.

Fun contest!

1. I don't really care much for hot dogs, but I'm eating one right now.

Congrats Tess.

Un, er, I'm on a diet and today I was so hungry, I ate everything in sight. *sigh* Tomorrow I start again.

I have type one diabetes, but I'm a chocoholic. LIFE IS SO CRUEL!!!!!!

Tess, thanks for praying for Christopher. And for your friendship. It means more than words can say. Happy weekend. =)

Sweet award!
1) I got braces when I turned 40, have them off now and wear my retainer faithfully every night.

2) I'm planning on going to bed early. I'm a tired mama with no kids home tonight.

Tess said...

Miss P: dinner last night was enchiladas made from the leftover Sunday potroast. not too bad, actually.

Amy: really? that has to be made up. honestly? wow. who can say they took a shoulder ride on someone who was riding a unicycle? that is so cool.

Stephanie: I bet it was magical. Someday...

Abby: ha! I eat hot dogs when we go camping but that's the only time. you gotta have them over the open fire, right?

Elana: alas, no. nothing implied or hidden. I did reach page 101 on my WIP today, though so I'm getting closer at least.

Robyn: I loved your heartfelt post today. it reminded me of what is really important in life.-- family. Christopher is so blessed to have you as his mommy. someday it will all make sense, my friend. I pray it will.

Mary: Sweet! I have contemplated braces as an adult but always chicken out. and, here's hoping you get to bed early.

Why did my mind completely blank out....hmmm.

1. I have lived in my home for 1 1/2 months and have only one picture on the wall...where to put what feels daunting.

2. Potty training is for the very brave...I'm feeling rather cowardly at the moment.

Have a great weekend!

Hey Tess, Just wanted to say thank you for such a nice comment about my book cover the other day! I appreciated you taking the time to share your thoughts!

Now two things:
1. I'm reaching my second week of a really bad sore throat and am thinking I'll have to break down and go to the doctor!
2. I'm making good progress on my WIP, but admit I didn't get nearly as much done on it today as I'd have liked!

Kelsey (Dominique) Ridge said...

Two is a good number.

1)Actually, tonight, what part of my dinner I was most excited about were the two baked potatoes. I don't know why, but I got very happy that there were baked potatoes.

2)I thought my rewritten ending of my WIP would be shorter. It isn't. I've lost control of my WIP, and a minor character has become a full-fledged secondary character with her own subplot, and gosh darn it why do they all want to talk about their feelings? Sorry. Just minor whinging there.

Just found your awesome blog. New follower. Not sure if I'm too late for the party but -

1. I really hate peanut butter.
2. I fell through the ice today in our beaver pond. Dang winter pudge!
