I'm Taking This With Me

I'm leaving, on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again..

ok, that was a John Denver Flashback from my youth, sorry. Really, very sorry.

But, I am going away for a personal writers retreat. Yep, I rented a condo in the beautiful mountains just about an hour from my house and I'm taking off. By myself. To write. By myself.

I'm liking the by myself part, can you tell?

And, I'm taking this quote with me. I totally kifed it from Michelle McLean's blog. Thanks, Michelle!

"I always figured that every word that managed to squeeze itself from my pen had to be immortal. Turns out they are all disposable. What a relief." (Tom Howe)

Isn't it a keeper?

Wish me luck courting the muse (I need it!) and, see you next week!

I envy you that unencumbered time!

Knowing me though I wouldn't be able to focus with so much free time. I work best under pressure :)

Peter, Paul, and Mary first sang that in the sixties. Yes, I'm dating myself.

Thanks for the comment on my blog, Tess. I'm total going to use it. The words he whispers in her ears will be, "I'll be back to finish this." Or something like that.

Have a great trip.

Elizabeth - horray! glad it helped. And, you are right, when I jiggle my brain I seem to remember Peter Paul and Mary singing this. thanks.

Friends - no need to be jealous. Just go on vrbo.com and find a cheap rental close to your home and go for it! I'm getting a nice two bedroom condo in a swanky ski resort community for only $90/night because summer is their off season. score! I'm gonna live on cereal and write for four days...heaven. AND cheaper than any conference I've gone to so far :D

and, just in case you were wondering: vrbo stands for 'vacation rental by owner'. it's the best site EVER.

Aww...I'm jealous! I wish I could go away for my own private writer's retreat.
Seriously, I'm very happy for you. I hope you write 100,000 words and every one of them is golden!

Love the quote and had to come see the picture after reading about it on TEW's blog. I am not disapointed!

WHAT A GREAT IDEA! I love it. I've thought about jumping on a cruise ship and doing the same thing. No cell phone service out at sea. :) have fun in the mountains with your muse. ;)

Have a great time, Tess!

I'll have to check that website out. My favorite has been homeaway.com. Same idea, and it's got international as well as national listings. I've gotten several US rentals through them. I made the mistake of looking one day when I didn't have the time OR money to travel. Almost cried on my keyboard when I saw how little a hideaway in the Italian countryside would cost.
